Terms of use
The short version
sned is a free service that emails you AI-generated lessons on a topic you choose, using your own OpenRouter API key. The lessons are machine-generated and can be wrong — they're not professional advice. Be reasonable, own your inputs, don't abuse the sending machinery, and you can delete your account anytime. The long version below is what actually binds us both.
What the service is
You pick a topic, and sned generates a 28-day course plan, then writes and emails you one short lesson per day. A dashboard on the site lets you read lessons, shape how future lessons are written, and export everything as markdown.
The service itself is free. AI generation runs on your own OpenRouter API key: OpenRouter bills you directly for every model call sned makes on your behalf, and you bear those costs entirely. sned never handles that money, never marks it up, and displays OpenRouter's reported costs to you as-is. You are responsible for keeping your OpenRouter account funded if you want lessons to keep generating.
AI-generated content
Every lesson is generated by an AI model. AI-generated text can contain errors, omissions, outdated information, or statements that sound confident and are wrong. Lessons are educational material for general learning, and nothing in them is professional advice — not medical, legal, financial, safety, or any other regulated kind. Lessons touching those domains carry a disclaimer line, but the rule applies everywhere: verify anything consequential with a qualified source before acting on it. You use the content at your own judgment and risk.
Your responsibilities
- Provide an email address you own and control, and keep it able to receive mail.
- Use your own OpenRouter account, under OpenRouter's own terms of service.
- Choose lawful topics that comply with the acceptable-use rules below.
- Don't abuse the delivery mechanics — the send-now, resend, and regeneration limits exist to protect the service and its sending reputation, and working around them counts as abuse.
- Don't probe, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service.
Acceptable use
Nearly any topic is fair game, including sensitive but legitimate ones — sex education, firearms safety, drug harm-reduction, security research fundamentals, mental health, religion, politics, the history of violence, medicine, and law. sned refuses a narrow set of harmful requests, and you agree not to attempt them:
- Instructions for making weapons, explosives, or synthesizing drugs.
- Sexual content involving minors.
- Targeted harassment of a real person.
- Methods of self-harm.
- Evading law enforcement.
Repeated attempts to generate refused content, or any use of the service to harm others, may lead to suspension.
Your content and ours
You own your inputs — your topic, context, feedback, and notes. Generated lessons are yours to use freely: export them, share them, adapt them, publish them. sned claims no ownership of generated content. The sned name, brand, design, and site code remain ours.
Donations
Donations are voluntary and non-refundable, and no goods or services are rendered in exchange — donating changes nothing about your account. Payments are processed by Stripe on Stripe's own site, under Stripe's terms.
Disclaimer of warranty
The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranty of any kind, express or implied — including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of content, or uninterrupted delivery. Emails can bounce, models can fail, and a free service makes no delivery guarantees.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, sned and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of the service — including costs you incur with OpenRouter, decisions made in reliance on lesson content, or missed or failed deliveries. To the extent liability cannot be excluded, it is capped at the amount you paid sned for the service, which is zero.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless sned's operator from claims arising out of your violation of these terms, your misuse of the service, or your violation of a third party's rights while using it.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or abuse the service. You may stop using sned or delete your account at any time from settings — deletion is immediate, self-serve, and removes your data as described in the privacy policy.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change materially, we'll update this page and its "last updated" date, and note significant changes in a lesson email footer or on the dashboard. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan and the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute belongs exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Michigan.
